Random Musings...

I'm so excited and I just can't fight it! (channeling the Pointer Sisters)...
I now have a desk for my creative endeavors! It has a home in the guest room which is slowly but surely being taken over by my supplies and books. Now I can spread out my work and keep it out and shut the door to hide it all.

Three more little things that make me happy for no apparent reason...
1. playing my ukulele
2. office supplies (I practically get giddy walking into a Staples)
3. Tetris (soooooo addicting)

Misc. Pics

I am still sorting through all the pictures from Evan & Markas' South Texas trip.
Here are a few miscellaneous pictures...
apparently Evan loved the fact that this was an 'Evan-sized palm tree'

flamingos at the San Antonio zoo
gotta have flamingo pics! ; )

Evan with his Great Aunt Diane who was visiting from Australia.
I think my mother-in-law took this shot. Very cool shot with the lighting.

how & when

how is it that my circumference, my world
fits in your chubby starfish hands?
>
when did your brilliant starburst eyes become a divine portal
to my inner ocean?
>
how is it that your jello giggles and tight corkscrew curls
leave my heart exposed?
>
when did your uncontained exuberance
nudge awake my inner child?
>
how is it that you, this little being,
became my soul's window, my viewfinder to the world?

Visited By Words

I am visited by words,
words awake and heavy.
Words slip into me
as if filling an open emptiness.
My mind is soaked in words
ambushed, captured, held.
Words sing to me
the purest of songs.
Words weave images like dancing ghosts,
taking me on a walk in the dark.

three more little things that make me happy for no apparent reason

1. sleeping in a cold room (even in the middle of winter)
2. blues music (I know, that's backwards isn't it?)
3. studying the nuances of the semi-colon (just kidding!), but saying random says like that does make me happy

uummm...

I just really don't know what to say about this. I do know that sometimes I come across things that I have to photograph... even when there is no logical reason to do so.
a case in point

Anyone have any immediate thoughts about what you see... other than my handsome boy of course ; ) I mean obviously this is a boat. The rest however is slightly less obvious. The cherry that topped off this hillbilly sundae is the pristine satellite dish located next it.
I am at a loss... ; )

Scrama?

I just learned a new term today.
scrap + drama = scrama
Who knew?
There is indeed plenty of scrama going on at my favorite online scrappin' community (evidently at plenty of other scrap sites too). Lots of amazingly talented and super fun ladies are apart of this community. However it seems that whenever there is a group of women eventually there will be drama. I am not directly involved in the scrama yet it has 'harshed my mellow' and zapped my mojo.
Any thoughts or insites?

I'm Back!

Got back from my Tennessee trip tonight. It was a great time, but I am definitely wiped out! Markas snapped this shot of Evan and me shortly after I got home. I had lots of practice posing for pictures this weekend ; )
I will post more photos from my trip soon.

Sweet Spot

my latest 12 x 12 layout
original poem & photos by me ; )

Rockin'!

Got air guitar?
Markas captured this shot of Evan while he was rockin' out! Our child has always been animated, but this one cracks me up! ; )

Well my guys are in South Texas visiting family. I am at home... just me and the dog. I feel a little out of sorts without the guys here. When Evan is away I feel as if I am missing a limb or something. It usually takes me a day or two to get my bearings. I plan on scrapbooking tonight (haven't done that in ages) and maybe having a home spa night. ooh la la! I leave for my Tennessee trip Friday morning... getting excited for sure. The only sad thing about this week is that I will miss Evan's first trip to the ocean : ( Markas promised to take pictures. It will be a wonderful father-son moment for them to share. Okay, off of here before I get weepy ; )

Lessons in Sewing

This post goes out to my mom : )

Evan has practiced sewing about five times. Today was the second time he sewed on his own. I set up the machine and thread the needle and then he was off. He started sewing on construction paper when he was four and know prefers felt. Mostly he enjoys making patterns on felt, but he has made one felt pocket.
Check out his focus and intensity while he works!

Neglectful Me

I know I have been neglecting my blog this week. My mind has been going in so many different directions. First of all Evan is out of school and we have been staying busy with activities around town. Second of all I am finally getting into the roadtrip mode. I leave for Tennessee next week and need to get organized. Deciding on clothes and stuff is easy. The hard part is decided what scrapbook and art supplies I should take with me. I never know what I am going to use when I am working on a project. I just go with the flow. But I can't pack all of my supplies... what to do? Also, I really need to figure out how to use my new camera before my trip. And I finally had to put away my owl supplies, because I have been going crazy creating crazy stuffed owls. Now I am wanting to get caught up on my scrapbooking...
There just isn't enough time in the day to do all of my 'artsy fartsy' stuff... Of course when Evan starts Kindergarten, I won't know what to do with all of my time : /

thirty-three

My how time flies! It's that time of year again. One more time with feeling.
My mom called and told me my birth story... three weeks overdue... 28 hours of labor... wrinkled forehead... sucking my finger... etc, etc. (Thanks, Mom! It just doesn't feel like an official birthday until I hear my story.) Then my dad gets on the phone and tells his part of the story... getting the call while he was working as a forest fire fighter in the Gila Wilderness. (Thanks, Dad!) My sweet boy was so proud to give me the presents he picked out for me... a princess crown and magic wand both with cool flashing lights. He also picked out a musical card which plays one of his favorite songs... Who Let the Dogs Out? woof, woof, woof, woof
Thirty-three is shaping up to be a swell year.
Thanks everyone for the happy birthday wishes!
