We celebrated our first Fourth of July in Pennsylvania with a group of friends mostly made up of Halliburton folks.
Our Happy Birthday America cake
Let the water fun begin. Waterslide, water gun battles &water balloons. The kids and a few of the men-folk (and 1 reluctant lady-folk) had a blast getting wet.
Evan & Alon humoring me just long enough to get a picture of them in their matching flag t-shirts. If you look closely, you can tell Evan is already inching forward.
The following 2 pictures should be titled 'do as we say... not as we do'
***The fireflies put on quite a show of their own earlier in the evening. I haven't figured out how to capture a decent shot of the fireflies in action yet. They are one of my favorite things about our first summer in Pennsylvania. The fireflies are often so thick they seem to percolate up from the ground.

The firefly - Photuris pennsylvanica (DeGeer) - was designated the official state insect of Pennsylvania in 1974. A small, unremarkable beetle by day, fireflies can transform a midsummer night into a fairyland of tiny, brilliant twinkling lights - a wonder of nature.
Commonly called "lightning bug" in Pennsylvania, the firefly produces light through an efficient chemical reaction using special photic organs, with very little heat given off as wasted energy.
